According to an article published in 1999 by the
DSA (Direct
Sellers Association), in the past 50 years, only 10 million people (up 50%
since 1989) have been involved in network marketing. In the United States,
some 47 million people are currently working at home.
WAIT - That article was written 5 years ago. Hum!
Let's take the telecommunications industry as an example, and the explosive growth that
occurred between 1963 and 1995, in a 32 year period. The industry grew 10
times it’s size. Well e-commerce will grow 20 times more in 5 years than the
telecom industry did in 32 years. By 1998, e-commerce sales were $12 Billion.
Sales are expected to reach $2.8 Trillion by the end of 2007.
Let's look at the baby boomer market for a moment. This group has been
fueling the US economy for the past 50 years. The reason the stock market went
nuts is because the baby boomers were dumping money into it. Generation Xer’s
out number the Baby Boomers 3 to 1. They are excited about Network
Marketing. They love technology and the Internet. And oh yes! They don’t
listen to their parents. (who often have negative remarks about Network
Marketing)
Trends that will color our future:
- The Generation Xer’s out number the baby boomers 3 to 1
- E-commerce will out do 20 times, what it took telecommunication 32 years
to do and e-commerce will do it in 5 years
- There are 200 million adults in the US alone that have never been
involved in network marketing before and today they are beginning to get
involved.
These three trends will create massive momentum for the Network Marketing
industry whether we like it or not.
Let's take a look at some more recent facts and
figures
These figures are from Neal Offen, President of DSA (Direct Selling
Association) in the July 2004 issue of "The Network Marketing Business Journal".
Hey! Don't let anyone tell you that network marketing doesn't work! Or that it's
slowing down!
There are:
- 13 million distributors in the USA
- 48 million distributors worldwide
- 475,000 distributors are sponsored per week worldwide
- Sales in the USA? - $29,665,000,000 (These are $ Billions $ guys and
girls)
- Sales worldwide? - $90 Billion!
These are all record numbers!
Furthermore, 25% of the distributor base are now working full-time and 2% of
the full time distributors report 6-figure incomes (in the US, this would be
260,000 individuals. Hmm!
Here are the kind of questions you must get used to
asking!
- Motivation Question
"Folks, I'm just a little curious, why did you decide to take a look at
this program?"
Listen very carefully to their answer because you're going to repeat it back
to them in just a minute.
- The Permission Question
"It would be helpful to me if I could understand a little more about your
situation. May I ask you some questions?"
They always say yes.
- The Exploratory Question
"You said that the reason you decided to look at this program was
because...(repeat what they told you). What did you mean by that?"
Listen for them to reveal (and elaborate on) their dissatisfactions regarding
their finances, their freedom and their jobs.
- The Financial Problem Question
"Are you completely satisfied with the amount of money you're making right
now?"
If they say no, ask them another Exploratory Question to get them to
elaborate. Try: "Why do you say that?"
- The Freedom Problem Question
"How do you feel about the amount of free time you have to do the things
you'd like to do with your family?"
- The Job Dissatisfaction Question
"Are you totally happy with the kind of work you're doing now?"
- The Solution Question
"What would it mean to you and your family if you found a business
opportunity that would solve all of those problems for you?"
- The Basic Qualifying Question
"Folks, if I can demonstrate to you that my company's business opportunity
will solve all of the issues you have expressed to me today, are you ready to
make a serious commitment and get started?"
- The Specific Benefits Question
"Now that I have explained the entire program to you, do you see how it
will meet your needs to your satisfaction?"
- The Test Question Close
"Mr.and Ms. _____, do you see how you will benefit by being a part of this
program?"
